Cultivate a Relationship and Share the Gospel
May 2022
By a member of SEND’s Diaspora | North America teamRamadan is over. Muslims have celebrated its passing with 3-4 days of feasting and visiting friends and family. But there are questions remaining for many, such as: Was my fasting for 30 days worth it?  Was my fasting acceptable to God? Am I in a better spot now because I fasted? They want to believe that they are in a better spot, but they have no way of knowing, because their relationship is only in one direction, from them to Allah. As you interact with your Muslim neighbors and friends, one of the most important things you can do, is to show them that you have a personal relationship with the Living God. Demonstrate an active prayer life, not to gain merit with God, but to reflect the actual relationship that you have with God. This will speak volumes to your Muslim neighbors and friends, even if they don’t admit it.   The Gospel is good news for men and women from every continent. And it is a crystal clear indicator that God loves us and wants a personal relationship with his creation. The Gospel declares that even though we were separated from God because of sin, God has provided a way for that separation to be bridged through Jesus. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14.6

As we share the gospel with our Muslims friends, in the light of the Old Testament background, we also take time to share our testimony of what God has done for us. This is powerful stuff. Sometimes we skip over all this history to “get to the meat of the issue”, but this is forgetting that people need to know what they are being saved from, in order to appreciate the immensity of that salvation. If Muslims don’t understand how much God hates sin, they will miss out on the fact that their sin is separating them from God. They will also miss out on God’s amazing love, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!  (Romans 5.8)Of course, this is usually too much information to give someone in one sitting! It shows the importance of relationship and the opportunity that relationship gives to share this wonderful good news over time. Please take the time to cultivate a relationship with Muslims. Please take the opportunity to share the greatest news that one could ever know - that though we are sinners, we can be reconciled to the true and living God.
