We went to Japan in 1985 with SEND International and served the first 26 years in the Tokyo/Yokohama area by starting churches and helping with administrative leadership. After the March 11, 2011 triple disaster in Japan (earthquake, tsunami, nuclear meltdown), God led us to move to the disaster area on the Pacific coast of Tohoku (northeast Japan) to help with post-disaster recovery and long-term evangelistic ministry in cooperation with an established local church. We also hosted volunteer teams that came to help.

Dave is the leader of the Tohoku Team of 17 SEND missionaries assigned to the region. Team members are from the US, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The Tohoku Team assists in mobilizing God’s people and engages the least-reached in the disaster-affected area of Tohoku with the gospel in order to establish reproducing churches. In February 2017, after a 7 month home service based in Kansas, we began our 7th term of ministry in Japan.

We have 4 children (3 daughters and 1 son - all married) and 8 grandchildren.
