Mitsuo and Akiko returned to their native country of Japan in 2001 as missionaries with SEND. After being involved in missionary children education for 15 years, they moved to Oshika Peninsula, an area that was devastated in 2011 by the earthquake and tsunami. Due to the geographical isolation, the residents had no contact with Christians until then. Most of the people whom Mitsuo and Akiko work with are fishermen, who cling fiercely to their traditional Buddhist/Shinto beliefs. Mitsuo and Akiko are sharing God’s love through tangible help in their work and visiting people in their temporary housing.
