The face of Europe is changing right before our eyes. Since 2011, with the coming of the “Arab Spring,” Syria has been at civil war. Nearly four million Syrians have fled to neighboring countries. According to the UN, more than half of all Syrian refugees are under the age of 18. The vast majority are Muslim although there are some Syrian Orthodox Christians. Now, due to devastating conditions in both Syria and refugee camps in neighboring countries, thousands have abandoned their homes, risked a life-threatening journey across the Mediterranean Sea, and are pouring into Europe in search of safety and a better life.

How will we respond to this crisis of humanity? Will we live out what Christ taught us and be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need? Or will the enormity of the situation paralyze us into thinking we can have no impact?

We have the opportunity to meet them with help—both physical and spiritual. SEND is mobilizing people, prayer and funds to help with the refugee crisis in Europe. We have missionaries in a number of the affected countries and are establishing partnerships with local churches and like-minded agencies. Would you help them reach as many refugees as possible?

The need is great and the time is now.
