To establish our ministry in a new Macedonian neighborhood, we went to school. Working side-by-side with parents, students and volunteers, and partnering with another Christian organization, we renovated the campus playground.
It looked like we worked on swings and slides and a climbing wall, but really, we built a bridge into a community. The project created such good will among the school administrators that they allowed us to host English classes on campus without paying rent.
The English classes, in turn, built bridges into the hearts of individuals, as friendships were made and, in some cases, the gospel was shared. Vesna came to Christ after attending one of those English classes. Today she is an active member of the house church that meets in the same neighborhood as the school.
Macedonian kids currently run, jump, and slide on four playgrounds constructed in partnership with SEND. We’ve built relationships and trust in these four areas, as these projects help us establish ourselves as people who love the community.
Now we’re ready to build another playground. Another bridge into another community, a community that needs a Bible-believing church. We hope and pray that God will use this new playground to build more bridges into the hearts of more people, people like Vesna. Costs include wood, concrete, hardware, monkey bars, reman’s pole, slide, paint and brushes, and trees.
