Making disciples among the unreached

Refugee Girls’ Club — Atlanta

In: Atlanta, Diaspora - North America
ID: 21145

“My dad says we can say a saying from the Quran to help us not be afraid, but people in America think they can just talk to God anytime about things. Is that really real? Can I talk to God about something like being afraid?”

We praise God for questions like these asked by the young women at our club for Muslim refugee girls. Every week, in addition to crafts and games, we have a “talk time.” The girls, ages 10-17, learn about health, safety, bullying, relationships, domestic violence, and how to spot and get help for someone being forced into arranged marriage. As they carve out new lives in the United States, we introduce them to women in different careers so that they can learn about the options open to them. And, above all, we pray for and with them, tell them stories from the Bible, and show that they have value and that God cares for them.

These are critical years for these young women, as they adapt to a new culture. You can help guide them through this process by keeping this loving, truth-filled club open. The club costs $500 a month to run — that’s just $20 per girl! We’re raising funds to keep the club going for the next two years, so that Muslim girls can know that they are loved by God and by his people.
