Carol Suzuki’s friends in Japan love to decorate their homes with English-language sayings. She’d like to see God’s Word, beautifully illustrated, hanging on their walls.
“Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly.”
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.” “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
With such messages in front of them day-in and day-out, Carol hopes their hearts will soften and they will understand their need for Jesus.
While English provides an excellent entryway, Carol believes that reading the Scripture in their own language will help change these ladies’ hearts. Before she teaches an English lesson, Carol does her homework. Online, she nds scripture in English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. But her students are ready to start using the Word themselves, to learn how to look up verses, and to personally explore God’s message of hope and redemption. Bilingual Bibles, which print the Japanese and the English alongside each other, will help the ladies in Carol’s group understand what the Scripture is saying on a deeper level.
