Lancaster, PA | Arabic Speaking Discipleship Practicum

Needed:
Does your heart desire to reach out to the new Muslim immigrants that are coming into our neighborhoods? Are you passionate about learning how to create innovative connections with recent immigrants? If that is your passion, come join us!
Term: Long-Term (3+ years), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years)
Country: North America (Immigrants & Refugees)
Tasks:
  • Participant will commit to a 3-year season of practical engagement among the local Arabic-speaking community, language and cultural immersion in the Middle East, and extended career discernment and debriefing to determine the next steps.
  • Love and serve recent immigrants and refugee adults and children. (Help navigate medical appointments, learning to drive and secure licenses, children’s education and school registration, banking and learning family financial management in an American setting, and other needs, and processing past trauma in the spirit of Christ demonstrating His love.)
  • Empower new neighbors with needed life skills to integrate into self-sustaining life in their new community.
  • Join a community of others living among the immigrant families in incarnational witness.
  • Share your story and the Good News in relevant ways, disciplining those whom you befriend, and assisting to form a worshiping fellowship of Christ-followers.
  • Grow in powerful discerning prayer for the “nations” in the community.
  • Learn Arabic language and culture to attain competence and confidence conversing with Arab friends.
Specific Qualifications:
  • Learning posture to grow with others in understanding the culture, language, and religious tradition of the focus community.
  • Confidence to engage and build friendships among the immigrant community.
  • Desire to serve as part of a larger team, to be mentored, and to coach others.
  • One of more of these specializations: Bible storying skills, ESL skill and experience, trauma healing certification, life coaching skills, and mentoring experience
