December 2023

You asked! Our Missionaries answered! Our missionaries do wonderful work all around the world. We asked them to share some particularly impactful moments. This is what they said!

An Outpouring of the Spirit

“This year at camp we had a number of students come to faith in Jesus for the first time. It was an exciting thing to behold. One night I was closing up the camp and found a student I have known since he was in 8th grade talking with an adult leader. I went over to check out what was going on and was immediately drawn into the conversation. This student told us about experiencing the love of God for the first time and finally recognizing his need for Jesus as his savior. After more conversation and confirmation we prayed with this student to put his faith in Jesus. After we sent him to bed we heard a commotion from his cabin. There was much celebration, but not just for him. My friend, who was talking with the student before I got there, told me of a conversation that had happened earlier with another student in the same cabin. This student had experienced the same thing earlier that evening. Two salvations! Then I went back to my cabin, and right when I walked in they greeted me excitedly telling me about another guy in our cabin putting their faith in Jesus. My mind and heart were swirling. I was excited but overwhelmed by all that was happening, in one night! God works in mysterious ways, and when it rains it pours. What an outpouring of the Spirit!?"

Seeing the Missional Heart of God

“I think one of my greatest highlights in ministry followed a training that we hosted on cross-cultural work in the churches in Russia. I saw the teaching quickly move beyond being just 'inspiring' or 'convicting' and led to real action as a Russian pastor I worked closely with started researching nearby people groups native to that part of Siberia. He identified a group that was not being engaged at all and began exploratory trips and used the knowledge he gained not only from the course, but from observing our team over the years. And he humbly asked for help from people in our church and in other churches and has continued to move this work forward in a humble way as he calls others to serve with him in bringing the good news of Jesus to this small people group. It was so impactful to see the missional heart of God that moved us to Russia move in this brother's heart in a powerful and humble way!”

God Answered Prayers

“There was a day when someone I was sharing the gospel with experienced God answering their prayers for themselves!

Our neighbors were in a heated conflict with Family members and came to us to process the situation. We provided a safe place for them and listened and at the end of our conversation offered prayer in Jesus' name. They happily accepted the offer and we prayed for God to give them wisdom and bring them peace in the situation. The next day, they updated that one of the family members asked for forgiveness for their wrongs, which was honestly out of character for him! Our neighbors acknowledged that the conflict wasn't fully reconciled, but also that God heard the prayer. We prayed again that night. Two days later, another family member who was estranged from them sought reconciliation out of the blue! As they shared the update they said, "When you pray...You are strong with God". Now, this was a season of life when my faith was a little shaken. I explained to them that I don't always feel "strong with God" but God uses even the smallest amount of faith, sharing Matt. 17:20-21 and we rejoiced together.”

A Surprising Provision

“Last year I had the opportunity to travel with several youth on a short term mission trip to Albania. One of the girls I had invited to come on the trip and offered her a scholarship if she would bring her camera and make a video. When we arrived at the camp we would be serving at she was assigned to help in the kitchen; after they had assigned all the jobs I asked about permissions for her to film around the kids at the camp. The camp directors eyes lit up with excitement as she said, 'She can film?!' And then proceeded to ask her to not be in the kitchen but to help them with photo and video needs they had. It was such a beautiful experience to be able to watch my Spanish youth serve while also enjoying being able to use the talents God has given her. She had been praying for years for ways to be able to serve with her giftings, and God provided her a beautiful opportunity.”
