Margaret Sonnenberg went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3rd, 2022 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her story begins with her parents fleeing the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (now known as the country of Ukraine) in Jan. 1922 to find freedom from the civil unrest and religious persecution at that time.
Having heard countless stories from her parents and brothers of the persecution they faced and the trials that they endured in their 20 month journey to Ellis Island, Margaret has always had a tender heart for those who have faced similar persecutions, especially those who are currently in Ukraine facing food and medical shortages, as well as those who have recently fled Ukraine as a result of the ravages of this unjust war.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a link so that contributions can be made to SEND International for their relief effort in Ukraine. 100% of your gift will go directly to the hurting people of Ukraine.
SEND is working closely with local churches and partners in Ukraine to respond to the ongoing crisis. Around 7.5 million refugees fleeing Ukraine have been recorded across Europe, while an estimated 8 million people had been displaced within the country.
Your gifts have funded 462 humanitarian projects to date and provided for the greatest needs of families fleeing the conflict with emergency food supplies, basic hygiene needs, shelter, transportation, and most importantly, gospel hope!
