The Hurting Are Hearing the Good News

Your generosity provided spiritual and physical care to those suffering in Ukraine.

With the support of the SEND community, the ministry of evangelism has continued through "Awakening" in Kyiv, part of the Religious Community of Evangelical Christian Baptists of the Fellowship of Independent Churches and Missions. Your partnership has enabled the local church to organize gatherings for refugees in Eastern Ukraine.

At these gatherings, the gospel has been preached, offering hope to many experiencing unimaginable loss. Through a series of 10 gatherings, the church reached more than 1,000 individuals affected by the crisis — people who have lost friends, parents, children, homes, and the lives they once knew. We join the church in rejoicing that God has opened doors to bring his message of hope to the displaced and grieving in Ukraine.

The Light of the Gospel

At these meetings, Pastor Mykola and the local church shared the good news of our Savior. Attendees have joined the local church for regular services, some have repented, and others have been baptized. The church's ninth gathering, held in Kolonshchyna — a village in the Kyiv region — led to an invitation for them to return more often. People wanted to continue reading God's Word together.

Stories of Heartache and God's Compassion

The testimonies of those attending these gatherings are powerful:

  1. One couple, preparing to flee with their two children, tragically lost them to a rocket strike just before they left.
  2. Another woman shared that she had stopped an armored vehicle to pray over the soldiers, only to see a mine strike the spot where the soldiers would have been had she not intervened. The soldiers, filled with gratitude, recognized God's hand in that moment.
  3. A married couple shared how their son, an officer in the Armed Forces, was miraculously rescued by a “lost” helicopter that wasn’t supposed to be in the area after he was wounded in battle.
  4. After one gathering, an elderly man who had lectured in the Communist Party for 50 years told Pastor Mykola, “This is the first time I've heard a message like this.” He was deeply moved by the gospel.

Our Ukrainian brothers and sisters are deeply grateful for your generosity, which has empowered the ministry of the local church.

Please join us in praying for God’s continued provision for this ministry in Ukraine, as the gospel reaches those who have never heard it before and hearts are open to listening. Praise God for his incredible work, and thank you for bringing help and hope to the people of Ukraine.
