I was working in a career that I loved when God shifted my gaze to a country I had never thought much about – Russia. After three mission trips, I felt God inviting me to explore long-term missions, so I took a leave of absence from my job and served in a one-year internship on the field with a SEND team.

I helped with an English outreach at a national church, developed deep connections with the international students in our city, and had many opportunities to talk about faith. Once, a student asked me what it meant to be a Christian, and when I told her, she said it didn’t seem fair that some people grow up in homes where they hear about Jesus and some, like her, don’t. I immediately thought of Romans 10:14, “How will they hear if someone doesn’t tell them? How will someone tell them if they are not sent?”. After my internship, I returned to the States to pray and decide next steps. Once again, I felt God inviting me to return and serve full-time so that those who haven’t heard can hear.

What’s my role in Russia?

  • Serving alongside the church, encouraging and empowering Russian believers to build bridges to share the gospel

  • Student ministry to internationals from Africa and the Middle East who are studying in our city – weekly Bible studies, individual and small group meetings

  • Sharing in hospitality

  • English club outreach out of the local church

  • Summer camps with a focus on evangelism and discipleship

  • Developing projects that meet community needs and encourage connections with the local church
