Della James is the youngest sibling of seven. Her parents (who have transition to heaven) instilled in them biblical values since childhood. Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Della’s goal was to use her accounting skills in the nonprofit world after she graduated from college in 1999. She started her accounting journey at G.E. Financial Assurance in Lynchburg, VA. In 2004, God put it on her heart to pursue her desire to work for nonprofits, and she applied for a position in Maryland. She started the position as an Accounting Assistant with Community Ministries of Rockville (now Community Reach of Montgomery County), was promoted to Accountant in 2010, then promoted to Director of Finance in 2016. There she gained additional experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and how to be a team player.

After 15 years of employment, the Lord put it on her heart to use her skills and knowledge for a Christian organization. When she was searching online for jobs, SEND International kept popping up. Their mission to mobilize God’s people and engage the unreached in order to establish reproducing churches touched her heart, and she knew this was the right place for her. She applied for a position and was hired within a year as Controller in the Finance Department where she continues to serve.
