My experiences growing up on the field with missionary parents, plus serving a term internationally as an adult, have given me a well-rounded understanding of missionary life—both the joys and the struggles. It has been on my heart to use this experience to support other missionaries through hospitality. I'm so glad the Lord has opened the door for me to serve in this way by hosting at SEND North's Guesthouse in Anchorage, AK!
The 60+ missionary families and individuals who make up the SEND North team are spread throughout Alaska and northwestern Canada, serving in remote—and often challenging—locations. When they need to visit Anchorage for supplies, medical care, rest, or transitioning between home and field assignments, the Guesthouse provides a comfortable, low-cost place for them to stay.
My hosting role involves coordinating with the missionaries about their arrivals and departures, helping with airport pick-ups and drop-offs, making sure the Guesthouse is clean and stocked with supplies, maintaining the Guesthouse property, communicating with missionaries about their supply needs so I can shop for and ship things to them when they can't come into town, and other things related to hospitality and member care. I feel honored to serve and support these dedicated missionaries in this way!
