As a kid growing up in South Dakota, Sara’s family hosted month-long homestay students from Japan once every few years. It was through these friendships with Japanese and future trips to Japan for a vacation, as a homestay student herself, and eventually in 2019 as a short-term missionary working in northern Japan that God opened her eyes to the need for the Gospel to be shared in Japan. During the six months she spent in Japan as a short-termer, she sensed that the Lord was calling her to return to Japan long-term. She is now serving her first term in Japan as a career missionary.
