Northern Ministry Training

At first glance Alaska doesn't seem that different from the rest of the country. English is spoken and the dollar is spent but that is about where the similarities end. Under the surface there is a mountain of differences in how life is lived, which priorities to focus on, and views on the afterlife. Without quality, well-paced training, those who have a heart to bring the love of Christ to the North face burn out after just a few years. The above picture represents many of the locations that have no church. We need workers in the harvest to be equipped to make a long term impact. SEND North is building an inter-agency training program to prepare people to live and serve in remote northern communities. This training teaches the skills and attitudes necessary to be respectful of human and cultural dignity in cross cultural ministry while effectively communicating the Good News.

The long term goals for Northern Ministry Training are 1) to grow the program to run for one week a year for four consecutive years 2) to launch Northern Ministry Training as its own entity to most effectively serve multiple organizations. Funds are needed to keep the costs as low as possible for participants as well as to grow the project to independence.
