Making disciples among the unreached

Considering Missions?

Am I Called?

Every Christian has a responsibility and a role to play in missions, whether by going or sending. God leads people to become missionaries in unique and personal ways, but there are some things you can look for in discerning your part in the Great Commission.
Church Planting among the Unreached

Am I Ready?

If you are curious about your readiness for missions, consider these questions:
  • What is your devotional life like?
  • What has given you the greatest feeling of accomplishment in your ministry?
  • When was the last time you shared the gospel with someone and how did you do it?
  • How have you discipled someone one on one?
  • What experiences have challenged your faith ?

Am I Financially Fit?

Debt is the biggest financial hurdle you may encounter as you consider missions. But careful planning can help you avoid new debt and pay off existing debt. It begins with creating a budget. Chart your monthly income and expenses. Use several months’ worth of numbers to get the most accurate picture. Don’t include income that you can’t be sure you’ll receive.
Evaluate your spending. You should aim to spend no more than 90% of your income. If your expenses are greater than that, cut the fat! Start by eliminating small but needless costs like frequent coffee runs and paying for household chores you could do yourself. Eating out often can also run up the bills. Abudget calculator can help you find other areas where you may be overspending.

Attend a Conference or Retreat

Explorer Track is a special four-day consultation blended with the SEND Family Conference every July. It is designed for those who want to get better acquainted with SEND as a mission and research SEND’s ministry opportunities.

At the conference, you’ll be assigned a coach and will attend three group sessions to help you in your research. You’ll meet with missionaries and leaders from specific fields and ministries you’re interested in. You’ll also get a feel for SEND’s personality and people. Your children can also attend the conference and participate in the children’s programs.

To attend, you must have filled out a Get Started form and be recommended to attend by a SEND mobilizer or missionary. You must be actively researching long-term missions and have SEND on your short list of possible agencies.
