Reaching Isolated Communities

with the Hope of the Gospel

You helped SEND teams serving isolated communities in the bush villages of Alaska and Canada.

Villages in the far reaches of Alaska and Northern Canada face extreme isolation, with no roads connecting them to the outside world. For many of these communities, there is no church, youth group, or local pastor. Children grow up without spiritually mature role models to guide them in understanding the gospel or walking with Jesus.

Recognizing this vast need, SEND North launched Project Caribou—an initiative inspired by the journey of caribou, resilient animals that thrive in herds as they travel, adapting to new environments. Just as caribou move together for strength and survival, Project Caribou teams are established in key "hub" villages to bring spiritual witness and care to remote regions. These hubs, accessible only by plane, serve as central locations where missionaries partner with small churches, creating a relational and logistical center for outreach.

Project Caribou was designed not only to expand outreach but also to support missionaries starting their ministry in these isolated areas. The hub communities serve as collaborative bases where teams of missionaries minister together, reaching out to neighboring villages, building relationships, hosting Bible studies, leading youth programs, and holding gatherings in homes. This team-based approach provides a strong support network, helping missionaries adapt and thrive in northern ministry and overcome the unique challenges of the region. Project Caribou offers an environment for new missionaries to learn, grow, and be part of a team that loves and cares for them and the people they serve.

Genuine connection is crucial not only for physical survival in the far North but also for hearing and receiving the gospel. We desire to see people in these small villages come to love and follow Jesus through relationships within their village and region.

Through  Project Caribou, SEND missionaries seek to spread the gospel, make disciples, and plant churches within hub communities and beyond. Without your support, ministries like this would not be possible. Thank you for helping to advance the gospel in these isolated parts of the far North.
