Engage Central Asia Intern/Language and Culture Student
Opportunity Overview:
Coming short-term to Central Asia to practice your vocation can really boost the ministry effectiveness of our local, long-term teams while giving you a chance to be discipled, to explore God’s cross-cultural call in your life, and to learn practical cross-cultural, ministry/life skills. Do you have ten days, two weeks, a month, or even a semester to reflect the transforming life of Jesus by working on a pioneering team serving local people? Join us as we follow Jesus, love people, and join His Spirit moving in local Central Asian communities.

Terms: Short-Term (2 weeks - 1 year), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years)
Responsibilities:
- Enhance the overall impact of our team’s holistic, gospel outreach efforts by building gospel-focused relationships with local co-workers and community members.
- Engage in language and culture learning activities as required by the team in order to deepen your impact.
- Actively embrace the mentoring and supervision offered to you by your local team.
- Submit to local leadership as you serve the greater community.
- Uphold all security protocols required of the team while in and out of the county, including what team members communicate on any digital platform before, during, and after the short-term trip.
- Learn to live and care for yourself, day-to-day, in the local context.
Qualifications:
- Desire to know Jesus, become like him, and do what he does.
- Ability to work in a team, submit to local leadership, and local cultural behavioral norms.
- Ability to cultivate curiosity as a learner, about yourself, about those you are relating to personally, and about the wider culture.
- Ability to persevere in the face of hardships, unmet expectations, tedious or complex problem-solving situations.
- Ability to be vulnerable in personally processing the short-term experience with your mentor and teammates, humble in your personal growth process.
- Track record of growing in your relationship to Jesus and dependence on His Word, His people, and His Spirit.
Additional Information:
All SEND Engage Eurasia short-term interns will engage in some level of language and culture learning and meet regularly together for supervision, mentoring, and encouragement
Living situations will likely place short-term interns in urban style apartments, requiring use of public transportation and an ability to shop, cook, do laundry, and care for the apartment independently. Some ministry will also take place in smaller village contexts with varying degrees of modern conveniences.
Our Local Vision
SEND Eurasia is trusting God to expand into a new location in Central Asia, a location that is home to 59 people groups, 34 of which are considered unreached (Joshua Project). In this Central Asia location, we seek to work closely with our partner organization to build teams of co-vocational workers that can live long-term in communities, learn language and culture, and build trusting friendships by doing life together with local people. Loving people as we work in professions that develop local communities offers us many opportunities to build gospel-focused bridges into these local communities and opens doors for the Spirit to draw people to Himself.
