Opportunity Overview:
SEND Eurasia is looking for workers with some level of ESL certification to empower Eurasian peoples to use English, while also building Gospel-focused relationships with students, and others in their local community. This opportunity is consistently relevant as thousands of people in Eurasia are looking for ways to increase their English-language skills. ESL ministry may be conducted inside or outside of a church setting, with varying degrees of professionalism required, but it is always in support of the larger Gospel outreach goals pursued by local SEND teams.
Countries: Central Asia, Russia, Ukraine
Terms: Long-Term (3+ years), Mid-Term (1 - 3 years), Short-Term (2 weeks - 1 year)
1. Learn language and culture to the level appropriate for one’s term of service
2. Plan and implement pedagogically sound ESL instruction in cooperation with a local team’s and church’s larger outreach goals.
3. Help local ESL outreach to discern what effective and appropriate ESL materials/strategies to use
4. Build gospel-focused relationships with students and other local community members
5. Fulfillment of TESOL internships may be arranged depending on a particular institution’s requirements
6. Modeling Christlike character, and dependence on God in everyday life
1. A level of ESL training and/or certification appropriate for one’s term of service
2. TESOL degrees/certification encouraged
3. Initiative taking in relationship building - “people skills”
4. Commitment to make global followers of Christ who will spread the gospel
5. Submission to the power of God's Word to transform lives
